The year has begun with a flourish of temperamental weather, hangovers and broken new year resolutions…and it’s April already! If you’re anything like me you’re wondering how the past two months have slipped past?! Dry January is over for those game enough to participate, it’s no longer pitch black when I leave the office at the of end of the day and there are rogue daffodils sprouting up where I swear I didn’t plant them last year. All things that fill me with the hope of Spring!
You will have noticed that it’s been a bit quiet on the Creative Glutton front. I’ve been busy – oh yes that awful word BUSY – trying to finish renovating our house. Now for those of you who have undertaken this task, you will understand that the quickest way to divorce is doing DIY with your other half, especially if one half is a perfectionist. Well, we are still in the process, but I can tell you from experience that it goes much better with a glass of bubbles in hand! So after four months we’ve finally moved back into our bedroom and only have one room to go. Celebrations! After months (well years now) of stripping, sanding, grouting and painting, I have learnt a lot, cried a lot, laughed a lot and saved a lot on exfoliant due to my becoming rough hands. There has to be a silver lining to everything. But it has meant that I now finally have a place to put some of my creative finds.
So after a break and some much needed reflection I am back to my creative adventures, meeting amazing craftspeople, visiting some great events and making crafty plans! I have some great things planned for the year, some amazing stories to share from some talented craftspeople and makers, a couple of overseas adventures and hopefully some ‘behind the scenes’ sneaky peeks to see how it’s all done.
The creative diary is filling up! One of the first big events of the year is London Craft Week in May which also hosts the first Craft Film Festival. With a successful debut last year, this year’s programme is even more packed with open studios, demonstrations and talks. If you’re London based and want a quicker fix, Heals has launched the Heal’s Modern Craft Market 2016 and is running an exciting calendar of events, talks and workshops over the coming weeks. It’s running until the 24th April, so there’s no excuse!
I would love to hear what you would like to see, so feel free to drop me a line. I’m always up for a challenge! Joins us on Facebook to see what’s happening, what’s inspiring us and other adventures.
So here goes, I’m launching myself into the frey to share, connect, create and inspire! See you on the other side…
